I’ve got three main creative projects this July:
I am working on creating ink painting content during the buildup towards the ink painting class that I teach, and have a plein air art date with friends coming up. It is so enjoyable to get together with friends in a lovely space and make art and creative projects together! We usually pick a park that we like, with plenty of shade, and paint or draw for 1 or 2 hours. I’ll be honest, sometimes we just chat!
I have got an allover cabled sweater that I am knitting; the major pieces of it are all knit and tonight I can start on the seaming! I am excited about that. I have been knitting on this sweater for several months. I have use 7 skeins of the yarn and will be undoing my swatches to gain the yardage to finish the neckline. Whew!
I also have a longer term sewing and embroidery project: patchwork zippered pillowcases for couch pillows that I desperately need. What is making it a longer term project is that I am taking my time on the embroidery. Both stitching slowly and letting it sit while I percolate on decisions for it. Sewing takes more effort and energy for me, I do not have the “easy expertise” that I feel in knitting. It is good for me to take my time for each part of the process so I have a clear brain and can focus well on my progress.
What are the creative projects you have for July?
Do you have a favorite medium to work in?
Do you like to finish projects quickly or work in smaller parts over time?
